Our consultation process
At Beauty Secrets Australia, every person is assessed individually before any higher-risk non-surgical cosmetic procedure is considered.
The consultation may include discussion of:
● Your reasons for seeking information
● Your medical history, medications and allergies
● Previous cosmetic or medical procedures
● Relevant recent or planned dental treatment
● Your individual circumstances and suitability
● Available options and their limitations
● Potential benefits, risks and complications
● Expected recovery and aftercare
● Alternative options, including choosing not to proceed
Attending a consultation does not mean that a procedure will be recommended or provided. A procedure will only be considered where it is clinically appropriate and informed consent can be obtained.
Potential risks and complications
All medical procedures carry risks. The type and likelihood of complications vary according to the individual, the area being considered and the proposed procedure.
Possible risks may include:
● Pain, tenderness or discomfort
● Redness, swelling, bruising or bleeding
● Infection
● Itching, irritation or changes in skin colour
● Asymmetry or an unsatisfactory outcome
● Lumps, firmness, irregularity or nodules
● Reactivation of cold sores
● Allergic or inflammatory reactions
● Scarring
● Temporary or persistent changes in sensation
● Delayed complications
● The need for additional assessment or corrective treatment
Rare but serious complications may include interruption to the blood supply, tissue injury or tissue loss, nerve injury, visual disturbance or loss of vision, and other complications requiring urgent medical treatment.

Recovery and aftercare
Recovery varies between individuals and depends on the procedure performed. Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising may occur and can sometimes continue for several days or longer.
Individual written aftercare instructions will be provided where a procedure is performed. Depending on the procedure, this may include temporarily avoiding pressure or rubbing, makeup, strenuous exercise, excessive heat, alcohol, certain skincare products, dental work, facial treatments or energy-based procedures.
Follow-up may be recommended to assess recovery and address any concerns.
When to seek urgent assistance
Contact the clinic promptly if you experience unexpected or worsening symptoms after a procedure.
Urgent medical assessment may be required for symptoms including:
● Severe or increasing pain
● Pale, mottled, dusky or unusually discoloured skin
● Increasing redness, heat, swelling or discharge
● Fever or other signs of infection
● Sudden visual changes
● Difficulty breathing or signs of a serious allergic reaction
● Weakness, difficulty speaking or other sudden neurological symptoms
